Cookie Policy

Cookie policies run to several screens because the sites they belong to are carrying advertising networks and measurement tools. There is none of that here, and at present there is no cookie either, which is why this page fits on one screen.

That is the complete list, and it is meant literally. The cookie holds a language code - en, de, es or ar. No identifier, no session number, nothing from which a person could be recognised.

Until recently this page said the site set no cookies at all, which was true while it was published in one language: the cookie could only ever have held the value it already had, so it was removed from the response rather than disclosed. German changed that, and the entry above went in with the language rather than after somebody noticed.

What this site also does not do

• No measurement. Neither Google Analytics nor any of its lighter alternatives is installed, and there is no server-side stand-in doing the same job quietly.
• No advertising. Nothing here feeds a retargeting list, because we do not buy ads and have no audience to assemble.
• No embedded social widgets. Where we link to a profile it is a plain anchor tag; nothing loads from another company until you choose to go there.
• No outside requests whatsoever. Every font, script and image a page needs comes from this domain, so your visit is visible to us and our hosting provider and to nobody else.

Local storage and session storage are equally empty - the site puts nothing in either.

Why there is still no consent banner

Because the one cookie is strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Under the ePrivacy Directive and its national implementations, consent is required before storing information on your device that is not strictly necessary for a service you requested. Remembering which language you clicked falls inside that exemption.

If that ever changes - if we add a measurement tool, or anything that follows behaviour - a banner will appear before anything is set, not after.

What we do still record

Not on your device, but worth being clear about: our hosting provider writes ordinary server logs, and if you send us something through the contact form, we receive what you typed. Both are described in the Privacy Policy, which is the page that matters if what you want to know is what happens to your data.

Checking this yourself

You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools, look at the Application or Storage panel on any page of this site, and you will find NEXT_LOCALE and nothing else. It is a claim that is cheap for us to make and cheap for you to verify, which is the only kind worth publishing.
